This 1970 Mustang may look like a standard SportsRoof, but the Q in the VIN confirms that it came from the factory with the 428 Cobra Jet engine.
A frame-off restoration, the code-K Bright Gold Metallic fastback is one of the rare non-Mach 1 1970 Mustangs with the Cobra Jet big-block; as equipped, it is one of just 29 according to the Marti Report.
In addition to the Cobra Jet engine, the SportsRoof is also optioned with the Select-Shift automatic transmission and 3.
00:
1 rear-end gears, along with a long list of extra-cost equipment including Select-Aire air conditioning, AM/FM radio with stereo door speakers, power steering and power front disc brakes.
All of the Boss-style SportsRoof accessories come with the Mustang--front chin spoiler, rear pedestal-mount spoiler, rear-window sport slats and chrome Magnum 500 wheels with F60x15 Goodyear raised white-letter Polyglas tires.
Introduced one year earlier for the 1969 Mustang and much-promoted for the new Mach 1 model, the 428 Cobra Jet was available in all Mustang body styles through 1970.
Created as Ford's muscle-car engine, the 428 Cobra Jet utilized low-riser 427 heads, a 390 GT camshaft, a 735 CFM Holley 4-barrel and free-flow exhaust manifolds to produce 335 HP and 440 lb-ft of torque.
The Q-code version did not include functional Ram Air, so those Cobra Jet Mustangs came with the standard flat hood for a stealthy appearance.
A heavy-duty drivetrain, including Ford's toughest C6 automatic and 9-inch rear end with 31-spline axles, prepared the Cobra Jet Mustangs for the brute torque and horsepower.
This gold Cobra Jet SportsRoof is also equipped with the black standard interior with Corinthian vinyl high-back bucket seats, finned aluminum valve covers and the hard-to-find factory emissions system.
The original build sheet comes with the car.
